Wedding Party

Mina Edwards

Maid of Honor

My name is Mina, and I am Zoi's cousin, god-sister, magical twin sister, etc... I've known Zoi all 16 years of my life, and she's honestly shaped me into the woman I am today. She's been the best role model I could ever ask for, and I am so lucky to have her, and while younger me threatened Davis with death at the beginning of their relationship, I love him a lot now too, and I'm so happy Zoi found someone that treats her right. I can't wait to stand with the two of them as they start their new journey.

Kevin Murphy

Best Man

My name is Kevin, and I have had the pleasure of having Davis as a best friend for 25 years. Whether it's been moving to another state to be neighbors, or living on opposite ends of the east coast, Davis has been a true brother.

It has been a pleasure to watch the relationship between Davis and Zoi grow into a partnership full of love and happiness. I am so excited for the bright future that awaits them.

Asif Delawalla

Groomsman

Hey y’all! My name is Asif (pronounced Ah-Sif), spelled like As If 💁‍♀️. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA but now live in Seattle, WA with my wife and two dogs. Davis and I met at a middle school dance in 2008. We were both, ironically, complaining about the music and instantly became close friends because of that. Ever since Davis and Zoi started dating, I could see that they had a special connection and that they cared a lot about each other. I’m excited to celebrate this special day with them and everyone they hold close to their heart.

Ashley Johnson

Bridesmaid

Zoi and I have been friends since our freshman year at NYU. It all started when she wanted company to go to the store and she said to me “it’s not like you have anything better to do” and she wasn’t wrong so I went and we’ve been great friends ever since. Under her hard emo exterior is a kind, wonderful person who bakes for you when you’re feeling down.

Daniel Tuchman

Groomsman

That’s right. It’s me. It’s DMT. I’m Davis and Zoi’s big shot Hollywood friend. Everyone’s gotta have at least one. I was close friends with Davis in high school, but I only knew Zoi as our other friend Grayson’s girlfriend. It wasn’t until after they started dating that I got to know her and see how perfect they were for each other. When I heard they were getting married, I was surprised because I thought they already were. I mean, Davis moved to Durham for her. Not a lot of unmarried men would do that. In honor of meeting Davis in Spanish class at Woodward, solo hablaré español en la boda, y estoy muy emocionada de estar allí.

Erik Benjamin

Groomsman

Hi! I’m Erik and I’ve been friends with Davis since I was the town crier in an elementary school play with him. Him and I have had so many adventures from putting on a one-act play together, binging a year’s worth of Oscar Movies in a ritual we call “Oscarthon”, and living in New York and working at NBC at the same time. I’m so happy to be here for Davis and Zoi’s big day!

Evan McKay

Bridesman

Nas and I met in graduate school where our constant classroom disagreements ended up making us great friends. While she and I used to disagree in the classroom we both agree on how great Davis is.

Jake McWhorter

Groomsman

My name is Jake McWhorter. I’ve been friends with Davis ever since we were in elementary school. We were in a rock band together. I was the singer and he was the drummer. We also did a ton of theater productions together. We would hang out together whenever we got the chance. I’ll never forget the first time I met Zoi, when we bonded together in 9th grade Math class over our shared love of Tenacious D. We would hang out together in high school choir and talk and joke around. Together, their vibrant personalities, confidence, and grace in whatever they do have been so inspiring to me, in ways that I may never fully fathom. Seriously, I don’t know if I would have survived the awkwardness and growing pains of high school without them, and I am so happy that they have continued to be my friends through the years. It has been so wonderful to see how they bring the best out of each other, and I am immeasurably happy for them!

Jeffrey Mann

Groomsman

It is I, Jeffrey. Davis and I were in a band together as awkward teenagers. We mostly played at school talent shows, birthday parties, and once in public. We also carpooled to school every day in our senior year. In that time he became such a dear friend. Since college we have lived far apart, but he’s stayed such a dependable person to rely on and laugh with. Zoi was the loud, goth girl who rode MARTA to Woodward in high school and was pretty much unmissable and undeniable. The only person I know who’s an intellectual equal to Zoi is Davis. That's why everyone knew Zoi and Davis would end up together ever since they were “just friends” at school. I’m so glad to be a part of their big day, and I can’t wait to see everyone there!

Jona Ritter

Bridesmaid

I’m Jona and I have been lucky enough to know Zoi my entire life–19 years now! As a little cousin, I always saw Zoi chase her dreams and it’s been so inspiring! She is such an amazing person and I’m so happy to see her with her soulmate.

Justin Payan

Groomsman

I've known Davis and Zoi since middle school, and they've been my best friends pretty much since then. We've gone through many chapters of our lives together, from theater after-parties to family Christmases with the DeRodes to intense board game sessions in Manhattan and now Zoom double-dates during the pandemic. Davis and Zoi have been the role-model couple in all of our lives for so long, and I'm so happy they're finally making official what they've had this whole time. Congratulations to both of you!

Nick Roberts

Groomsman

Hey, I'm Nick a firefighter in GA. I've known Davis since elementary school, and he even won the duel to be best man at my wedding, and I had homeroom with Zoi freshman year of high school. From hanging out with Davis while he worked on lines for whatever play he was in that year, to talking to Zoi about her Monster addiction, these two honestly made high school so much better. I can't think of anyone being a better match for these two than each other, and I can't wait to see them continue to bring out the best in each other.

Samar Miled

Bridesmaid

I met Nasanin in Durham, three years ago, when we first started our PhD adventure. Since then, she has been my roommate, my classmate, my official make-up supplier, my friend in life, in the US and in Tunisia... in poetry and in celebrations. Nasanin and Davis, alias Duber, have been here for me since day 1 and made me feel welcome and safe, happy and worthy of happiness despite homesickness and covid... Nasanin and Davis are smart and beautiful, loving and full of joy, full of positive energy and dreams, and I'm looking forward to celebrating their love, dancing to their music, sharing their happiness and making their special day a day to remember.

Seth Loftis

Bridesmaid

I met Zoi freshman year at NYU. We lived on the same floor and she was also in my writing class (she tells me I showed her my obscure piercings once before on the subway, but I’m not sure I believe that). We lived together sophomore year, during which she saved my life during a dissociative episode. NOT TO BE DRAMATIC (but also to be dramatic) I really don’t know where I would be in life if we hadn’t met. The best type of friend is someone who supports you, challenges you, checks you when you’re being crazy, and can teach you something. And that’s Zoi. She has been my biggest supporter since I met her, and I can’t wait to be her biggest supporter now. #UsGirls

Sydney Maynard

Bridesmaid

I met Zoi freshman year of college and she quickly became one of my best friends. She’s one of the first people I text when I need to vent or share good news, and I’ve often referred to her as my boyfriend. The first time Davis visited her at NYU, she asked what I thought of him; I loved him from the first second. Zoi and Davis fit together perfectly and I’m in awe of how long they’ve been together. They seriously are couple goals. I look forward to many more years of third wheeling with them. I’m so pumped that Zoi and I are engaged at the same time, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her in October! Let’s get married, y’all!

Trevor Jann

Groomsman

I’m Trevor. I’m an epidemiology analyst in Los Angeles. Having known both the bride and groom since high school and middle school, I can’t think of a more beautiful wedding to be a part of and witness. My fondest memories are singing in choir with Zoi and performing theatre with Davis. The honor to be there for both of these wonderful people and friends warms my cold, cynical heart. Here’s to a bright future!
